Lehn Benjamin has spent the past 25 years working on issues facing marginalized communities. She worked in South Africa during the democratic transition, on the Senate Banking Housing and Urban Affairs Committee as a Congressional Fellow, and for the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund. Prior to joining the faculty at the school, she spent 10 years on the faculty at George Mason University where she taught courses on nonprofit management, public management and evaluation.

In January 2008, Dr. Foley came to O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs from Chief Operational Plans, Indiana Department of Homeland Security. He also served with the Department of Homeland Security’s FEMA Region V's Regional Interagency Steering Committee, on the national committee that wrote the National Response Framework and recently on the National Level Exercise 2009. Previously, he was Director of Strategic Leadership at the United States Army War College, prior the Chief of Operations for Homeland Security for U.S. Forces Command (FORSCOM) and previously the Weapons of Mass Destruction Branch Chief at FORSCOM.

Professor and Charles Steward Mott Foundation Chair on Community Foundations
Dr. Laurie E. Paarlberg joined the IUPUI community in 2018. She holds the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation Chair on Community Foundations at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy Her research focuses on the changing nature of community philanthropy and the implications for equity, with a particular focus on local United Ways and community foundations. Her current projects examine community foundations’ efforts to adopt equitable practices and the rural /urban divides in philanthropy. Dr. Paarlberg’s publications include numerous articles in refereed journals, including Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, Voluntas, Administration and Society, and Public Administration Review. Dr. Paarlberg’s research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, AmeriCorps, and the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. She has received the Best Paper Award for Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, the Best Conference Paper at the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) Conference, and the Accenture Advances in Public Management Award, Accenture Corporation, for Best Paper in International Public Management Journal. Before coming to the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, she was an associate professor in the Bush School of Government and Public Service (Texas A&M University) and held the Robert H. and Judy L. Allen Professorship.
