Media & Public Affairs

Use new media tools to champion a cause

If you’re interested in using communications strategy to further political goals, the Media and Public Affairs major might be for you. Part of the B.S.P.A. degree, this major is believed to be the first of its kind in the U.S. Your interdiscplinary coursework will give you a deep understanding of political communication and its impact on the U.S. political process.

You’ll take courses in law and public policy, journalism, informatics, sociology, and political science. The O’Neill School’s Media and Public Affairs major will give you the skills necessary to use persuasive communication and media tools to achieve the goals of your community, or a nonprofit organization or business.

Leave with a tangible skillset

All BSPA degrees require at least one internship, so that by the time you graduate from O’Neill IUPUI, you’ll have the experience and connections to boost your career. Thanks to the school’s proximity to nonprofit organizations and government agencies in downtown Indianapolis, you can complete an internship during the semester and graduate on time.
